Owned and operated by Richard Smollin, DVM, Winnetka Animal Clinic is a family-run hospital, treating the pets of Winnetka, its surrounding areas, and the greater Los Angeles area for more than 40 years.

We pride ourselves on the personal, one-on-one relationships we establish with our clients and their beloved pets. Caring for dogs, cats, and some pocket pets, we specialize in wellness exams, diagnostics, spays/neuters, and year-round flea control programs. Our Veterinarians

Richard Smollin, DVM - Veterinarian, Owner

Dr. Smollin is a graduate of The Ohio State University and the owner of Winnetka Animal Clinic since 1980. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, his older brother became an equine veterinarian and was a major influence in his decision to pursue small animal medicine as a career. His love of animals developed early in life, as his brother was always bringing stray dogs home to live with them. His first pet was a blind poodle named Zorro.

Nicole, RVT - Technician

Nicole, raised in Woodland Hills, graduated from Pierce College with an AS & STEM degree in Veterinary Technology. When Nicole is not at work you can find her hanging out with her family & friends. She has a large, loving family with a daughter, Violet, who loves to swim; three dogs: Cupid, Dotzy, & Jasmine; & three cats: Bagheera, Polly, & Sherman. Pretty much any activity that involves her husband & daughter makes her one happy camper.

Leticia - Technician

Leti grew up in North Hollywood, California & has over 10 years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician having worked at other veterinary offices & volunteering at a wildlife center. She has two children, a son named Jeffrey & a daughter named Sophia. Her family has a pit bull named Blue Dino Rawr & a chihuahua named Mia La Tortilla. Her hobbies include doing just about anything with her kids, gardening, & shopping.

Susie - Supervisor

Susie, originally from Los Angeles, has always been passionate about helping animals having worked in many low-income & emergency veterinary hospitals until she found us. She went to school for animal science & zoology at Pierce College & Cal Poly Pomona. She is pretty much a real-life Snow White with her brood of animals, many of which are rescues that found her including Peanut Butter, the cocker spaniel; Chipotle, the African grey parrot; Kitty, the outdoor cat; & Gordo, the indoor cat. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys watching movies, hiking, going to the beach, & traveling.

Rusti - Reception

Rusti, a native California gal, has been with Winnetka Animal Clinic for over 16 years. A lover of animals, she’s full of warmth and compassion. When not at the clinic, she is busy at home cooking, baking and knitting or traveling the world. She has been married to her wonderful husband (unbiased opinion) for 44 years and shares 4 kids and 4 grandkids. A wealth of helpful knowledge, she is an asset to our clinic.

Ary - Reception

Ary, born & raised in Los Angeles, studied sociology & criminology at Mt. St. Marys but always found herself drawn to helping animals & previously worked at many low-income & emergency veterinary hospitals. She is a loving mom to a miniature schnauzer named Skully Bones & Nugget, the terrier (who she believes is the most beautiful angel in the world). In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling & watching horror movies with her fiancé & their pups.
