Saying Goodbye to a Beloved Pet

At Winnetka Animal Clinic, we understand that the loss of a pet is the loss of a family member. It’s the most difficult thing a pet owner will ever have to go through.

When the time comes to say goodbye to your beloved companion, it will most likely be an emotional experience. We understand this hardship—we’re not just doctors and staff, we’re pet owners as well.

Some owners will unfortunately be faced with the tough decision of having to put their pet down. This typically happens with senior pets that have lost their faculties or pets suffering from acute pain with no chance of remedy or recovery. Regardless of the circumstances, the act of letting go can be extremely difficult. This is exactly the reason we handle pet euthanasia with the utmost empathy and compassion. We welcome our clients and family members to be present during the process if they wish to accompany their pet in his or her final moments.

We offer care of remains to our clients who’ve lost a pet. This is included with euthanasia and available for an additional cost with private cremation. More information about this process is available upon request.

The loss of a pet can be a difficult time, but it is one you will not have to go through alone. If you have any questions about the end-of-life care at Winnetka Animal Clinic, we invite you to contact us today.
